Post-Fire Restoration Begins at John Cowley & Sons in Farmington

According to the restaurant Facebook page, the family hopes to have repairs done to the second floor and kitchen by downtown Farmington's Harvest Moon celebration.

After a kitchen fire that closed the restaurant on Friday, restoration has begun at John Cowley & Sons restaurant in downtown Farmington.

Farmington Public Safety was called to the restaurant at 5:15 p.m. and quickly extinguished the fire, which started in the restaurant's wood-fired grill and moved up through a vent. Firefighters had to cut through the roof to cool down an overheated vent. Farmington Hills Fire Department crews assisted.

According to the restaurant's Facebook page, "As soon as entry to the building was allowed, the family and staff started to remove damaged items, clean the debris, and evaluate repairs to be completed."

The family hopes to have the restaurant back in action by downtown Farmington's Harvest Moon celebration Sept. 26-28. The Harvest Moon volunteer pep rally originally scheduled at Cowley's on Sept. 10 will be held at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion
