Target Takes Part in Read Across America

The morning event in Farmington Hills will include goodie bags, readings and other activities.

Target in Farmington Hills is hosting a free in-store reading event Saturday, in celebration of the National Education Association’s (NEA’s) Read Across America program.

From 9 a.m.-11 a.m., the store will have a reading nook inspired by Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, and Target team members will read aloud from his books. Children will receive a reusable Target bag filled with goodies, and there will be other activities as well.

A store representative said the activities will take place in the store's infants department.

Since 2003, Target has supported the NEA’s Read Across America program, which calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on or around March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. As a result of its support of programs like this, Target is on track to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015.
