Trott Financial Center Celebrates Earth Day

More than 150 people attend this annual "green" event.

The Trott Financial Center (TFC) held its 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration on Thursday in Farmington Hills. The event drew more than 150 people to its green-focused activities.

The event kicked off with a musical parade put on by the children at Bright Horizons, a community childcare facility with a location within the TFC.  The children made their instruments with recycled materials, such as oatmeal canister drums and noisemakers made out of plastic bottles filled with sand. Following the parade, employees were invited to attend an Earth Day Fair, featuring eight local vendors who offered education about recycling, as well as samples of their sustainable Michigan products.

Continuing with its green initiatives, the TFC e-committee has implemented a comprehensive recycling program, reducing the buildings overall trash volume by more than 40 percent since 2008. In addition to its recycling program, the e-committee hosts four annual events to highlight local green companies and help educate its employees on the importance of applying more green initiatives to their daily lives.
