What's Happening at the Corner of Drake and Grand River?

Four new businesses are headed for the intersection, some in Farmington and some in Farmington Hills.

At least four new businesses are in the works at the intersection of Grand River and Drake Road.

On the northeast side, in Farmington Hills, construction crews are hard at work on two buildings. City officials say one will house a McDonalds restaurant; the other will be an AutoZone. The large corner lot was formerly a car dealership.

On the southeast side, in the newly renovated Drakeshire Plaza, plans have been approved to remove 60-70 percent of the brick on the north side of the west building, to create Grand River-facing storefronts. Farmington's economic and community development director Kevin Christiansen said leases have been signed to bring in an Orange Leaf frozen yogurt shop and Biggby coffee shop.
