Botsford Hospital announces three physician leadership changes in its Department of Surgery

Botsford Hospital announces three new physician leaders in its Department of Surgery. "I welcome Drs. Laveroni, Hecker, and Dinnan to their new roles at Botsford. Each is truly committed to improving the efficiency of our surgical suites," said David P. Walters, D.O., Botsford's vice president and chief clinical officer. "Moreover, they are extremely mindful of the importance of our Medical Education Training Program and Trauma Program." 
 
Eugene W. Laveroni, D.O., has been named as chief of surgery. He has served as the medical director of surgery at Botsford since 2007. After graduating from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Laveroni completed his postgraduate training at Botsford. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Vascular Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Laveroni holds other service positions at Botsford as well, including medical staff treasurer, Medical Executive Committee member, and "The Spag" annual golf outing chair. He is also a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Laveroni's professional memberships include the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of Vascular Technology, and Oakland County Osteopathic Association. He has been on staff since 1991. 
 
Earl T. Hecker, D.O., has been named section chief of Surgical Critical Care. He graduated from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his post-graduate training in general surgery and vascular surgery at Botsford Hospital and in Europe at Bispebjerb Hospital. Dr. Hecker served as chief of surgery at Botsford from 1986 to 2013. He holds the rank of fellow with the American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the International College of Surgeons. Dr. Hecker also serves as a clinical professor of thoracic surgery at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and the American Board of Internal Medicine in critical care medicine. Dr. Hecker serves on Botsford's Medical Executive Committee and has been on staff since 1971. 
 
Kelly Ann Dinnan, D.O., joined Botsford's medical staff this year and now serves as the hospital's medical director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. After graduating from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, she served her general surgery residency at Botsford. During this time, Dr. Dinnan distinguished herself by serving as resident director for the Trauma Committee, as chief resident, and as chief surgery resident, and was also selected as Botsford's most outstanding resident. She completed two fellowships---surgical critical care and acute care surgery---at University of California San Francisco-Fresno. This board-certified general surgeon has also earned a certificate in acute care surgery. Dr. Dinnan is board-eligible for surgical critical care. She is also certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Dr. Dinnan is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Michigan Osteopathic Association.
