IAV Sponsors the University of Michigan's MRacing Team

For the second year in a row, IAV Automotive Engineering Inc. has committed to sponsoring the University of Michigan’s MRacing Formula SAE Team, an excellent program that asks students to use technical innovation and advanced engineering analysis to build formula-style racecars. This year, IAV, an engineering services firm specializing in full vehicle integrations, is a gold sponsor and is responsible for equipping the team with the knowledge and funds to help them succeed in the Formula SAE collegiate racing series, as well as help prepare them for their future careers as engineers. Six of the company’s associates have committed to aiding the students’ endeavors through mentorship initiatives, providing a great opportunity to foster the innovative minds of the next generation of the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workforce.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, IAV hosted the team at its North American headquarters in Northville, Mich. to present a check to be used during the team’s 2014 season. Students that attended the ceremony on Thursday were given a facility tour. Additionally, the MRacing team gave a brief, insightful presentation on the goals and components of their project, including a look at their car’s aerodynamics, chassis simulation, drivetrain and more. The team put their 2013 vehicle on display at IAV for the night as well.

IAV views university partnerships like this as a way to enhance the future of its company and Michigan’s position in the automotive industry as a whole. To learn more about IAV visit www.iav.com/us.
