“The Olympics are cultural events where all borders are brought down. Through sports, everyone is united, which is something Mango strives for by enriching lives with language and culture,” said Hamsa Daher, Mango Languages chief operating officer. “We’re proud to see Jessica represent Detroit in this incredible event, and we hope she and her family find their Mango lessons a helpful way to learn more about the Russian language and culture.”

Smith’s family will attend the games with the additional generous support of Melvindale community members, who held fundraisers in her honor. During their stay in Sochi, Smith’s family will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the families and supporters of the more than 6,000 athletes from 85 countries participating in the games.
