Retiring radiologist joins Botsford Foundation Board

Stephan R. Morse, D.O., F.A.O.C.R., has become a member of The Botsford Foundation Board of Directors as he winds down a career spanning more than 47 years at Botsford Hospital. 
 
Dr. Morse's relationship with this health care organization began as a young man in graduate school. He went to work as an orderly for a summer at Zieger Osteopathic Hospital— Botsford Hospital's precursor in Detroit—before leaving the state to attend the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. 
 
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Morse came to the newly opened Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills to serve his yearlong rotating internship followed by his diagnostic radiology residency. Six months into his three-year residency, Dr. Morse was called to duty to serve his country as a radiologist for two years during the Vietnam War. After being discharged from the Army, Dr. Morse completed his residency at Botsford and joined the medical staff as an attending radiologist in 1973. 
 
Dr. Morse was selected to lead Botsford's Department of Radiology as chairman in 1996. During his 17-year tenure as Radiology's leader, he brought Botsford into the digital age. Dr. Morse also worked diligently to retain a staff of highly trained, board-certified radiologists on the cutting edge of evolving imaging technology. 
 
He and his wife, Barbara, have been very generous donors to The Botsford Foundation over the years. In 2009, Dr. Morse and his partners in Botsford Medical Imaging, P.C., also pledged to donate $100,000 to the then new Dr. Louis and Lucille Spagnuolo Breast Center on the hospital's campus.

"His investment in sustaining the Botsford legacy of compassionate care, clinical competence, and medical education aligns with the mission and vision of the Foundation." 
 
He is a fellow and past president of the American Osteopathic College of Radiology and has held membership in several professional organizations, including the Radiology Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Dr. Morse published numerous articles and lectured nationally on many occasions.
