Thornton and Grooms Gives to Help Fight Breast Cancer

During October, Thornton & Grooms, a top local heating and cooling company, was able to raise $1,000 for The Pink Fund by offering to donate five dollars for every furnace or boiler maintenance tune-up and fifteen dollars for every maintenance plan purchased. The money will help those fighting breast cancer pay their heating bills this season.

The Pink Fund helps breast cancer patients pay bills and meet other basic financial needs for up to 90 days while they are undergoing treatment.  Many breast cancer patients cannot work while they are in treatment and so have difficulty paying their bills.  The Pink Fund steps in to help relieve this stress and allow them to concentrate on beating cancer.

“We are proud that our efforts were able to raise $1,000 to help cancer patients.  Everyone on our team pitched in to help raise as much as possible for The Pink Fund,” says Dave Knight, owner of Thornton & Grooms.”

Knight continutes, “This year’s fund raising efforts continue our commitment to The Pink Fund and those it serves. They are our neighbors, family, and friends.”

Molly MacDonald, founder and president of The Pink Fund, is herself a breast cancer survivor.  She was diagnosed in 2005 and saw the financial damage that the demands of treatment and recovery can cause.  The Pink Fund is based in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
