Solutions to Leaking Basements

Ronald Gay, consultant and author, has over 35 years of experience in professional home improvement, consulting and inspections.  Since the mid-1980’s, Ronald has advised individuals on basement and seepage problems, becoming an expert in the field.

“I have inspected over 2,000 homes during my career,” said Gay.  “I have found that, more often than not, solutions to wet basement and water seepage problems are best handled with common sense approaches to exterior maintenance and design. There is no need for expensive aftermarket waterproofing systems.”

In 2005, Gay published “5 Steps to a Dry Basement or Crawl Space.”  The book offers practical advice and solutions to addressing the cause of foundation water problems.  The 140 page book has since been updated and is in its second printing.  It is available on amazon.com for $17.95 and discounted through Wet Basement Consultants.

Through Wet Basement Consultants, Ronald inspects homes for homeowners, home buyers and real estate professionals.  He then offers advice on fixing wet basements and crawl spaces, leaving the client with a clear, concise, plan of action.  The client can then make the necessary changes on their own, or enlist the help of specific trades people.  This would not include the use of an aftermarket waterproofing system.

Wet Basement Consultants’ fee is based on a flat rate per the square foot of the home.  A 3,000 square foot home is charged only $155 for consulting services.  The service guarantees to eliminate, or greatly reduce, the water seepage or the client will get their fee refunded. ”Most often common basement seepage can be completely cured,” says Gay. Service is available on short notice, however, not on an emergency basis.
