5 Things You Should Know This Weekend - Feb. 24-26, 2012

Expect the snow to last through today, with accumulations of 2-4 inches.

There's a snowy forecast and a free concert at the library on our list of things you should know about the next few days:

1. The weather

Snow will continue through today and into tonight, the National Weather Service predicts, with wind gusts today of up to 28 miles per hour. Another 2-4 inches on top of last night's snowfall is expected, along with a high around 36 and a low tonight around 23. 

2. Snow emergencies

With heavy snowfall comes the possibility of a snow emergency being declared in the . In the event that happens, the will alert local media and send out notices to everyone who has signed up for the department's alerts (which you can do at farmingtonpublicsafety.com). Once the emergency has been declared, residents have 12 hours to remove their vehicles from the road, so streets can be plowed curb-to-curb. To learn more, visit the city's webiste

Join the Farmington Musicale on Sunday at the in Farmington Hills for memorable music from films and stage. The free concert begins at 2:30 p.m., in the auditorium on the second floor.

4. Look ahead: Breakfast with Rick Santorum

The  and Livonia chambers of commerce are bringing in another Republican presidential front-runner on Monday, 8 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cultural Center, 18100 Merriman Rd. in Livonia.
