5 Things You Should Know This Weekend, July 29-31, 2011

Can you believe it's the last weekend in July? As we move into the middle of summer, we're adding a trivia question to our "5 Things" feature. You can post your answer in the comments below. Here's the first question—and four other things you should know this weekend:

1. Trivia

There are three flags atop the Village Mall building at the corner of Grand River and Farmington Road in downtown Farmington. What does each represent?

2. The weather

The National Weather Service says there could be rain and thunderstorms before 2 p.m. Friday with a high temperature around 87. Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high of 89, while Sunday night brings back a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey—if any of these names are in your music collection, make time for tonight's Swing City Band concert in . Music lovers young and old will enjoy this 16-piece band, and don't forget to bring your dancing shoes. This free concert will be held at if it rains.

4. Farmers & Artisans Market

Mark Reitenga, a market favorite, returns to the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park on Saturday morning, performing his brand of folk-rock music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market opens at 9 a.m.; enjoy a food demo with Chef Jerry Jones of Romano’s Macaroni Grill at 11 a.m.
