5 Things You Should Know This Weekend - Mar. 2-4, 2012

From a dog park open house to a Purim party, we've got it all this weekend in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

The first weekend in March will bring many activities and some more wintry weather to Farmington and Farmington Hills: 

1. The weather

Expect rain and maybe even a thunderstorm today, after 3 p.m., and a 30-40 percent chance of snow Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service predicts highs this weekend will drop from 49 today to 33 on Sunday, with lows dropping from 33 tonight to 19 on Sunday night.

2. Hog Roast

The Old Winery Farmers Market is hosting a hog roast Saturday. Your $10.50 ticket gets you pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans and a homemade roll, along with iced tea or lemonade. If you haven't purchased at ticket, you can still attend – just be sure to RSVP on the market's Facebook page today. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Old Winery/Powerhouse building, 31505 Grand River in Farmington.

The  will host a public meeting Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the , 29260 Grand River, to provide information and take comments on a dog park proposal for the former William Grace Elementary site on Shiawassee in Farmington Hills. City staff will be available to answer questions, and literature will be available outlining plans for the site.

Purim Palooza begins at 11 a.m., with the search for a Purim Superstar for Sushan Idol. At 11:45 a.m. the carnival for all ages begins, with games, a kiddie corner, clowns, face painting, photo booth, miniature motorways, bounce houses, balloon animals and more. 5. Look ahead: meets Monday

Farmington council members will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at city hall on Liberty. An agenda was not available when this article was posted.
