5 Things You Should Know This Weekend - Mar. 30-Apr. 1, 2012

The Governor Warner Mansion opens for the season on Sunday.

After being closed to the public for the winter months, the opens this Sunday with a quilt show.

1. The weather

Take your umbrella with you today – the National Weather Service predicts a 100 percent chance of rain after noon and up until 8 p.m. Today's high will land around 40, with tonight's low dipping just below the freezing mark. The sun comes out Saturday, with a 30 percent chance of rain following on Sunday. Saturday will remain cool, but temperatures start climbing again on Sunday.

If you're over 18, take advantage of free health screenings from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills. Hearing, vision, blood pressure and a variety of other tests will be available. To learn more, visit projecthealthyliving.net.

3. Patch at the

Look for Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch at the Old Winery Farmers Market Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. We'll have goodies for adults and kids alike, and editor Joni Hubred-Golden will be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate how to upload photos or post events. The Monday night quilters will display their work at the , which opens for the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. In addition to new and antique quilts, they'll have a display that explains their project to make quilts for homeless veterans. The mansion is located on Grand River, west of Farmington Road.

Have an afternoon of fun while helping those less fortunate, at this Sunday event in . The Jaycees will be holding egg hunts between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., as well as offering a bounce house, carnival games, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny. All they ask is a donation to Gleaners Food Bank in return.
