Today's program, "Maintain your Brain," at the is billed as a "Senior Wellness" talk. But a program that has a Beaumont Hospital dietician and diatetic intern talking about foods that keep your brain healthy sounds like a good thing for anyone to attend. Join in at 11:30 a.m.

2. The Governor Warner Mansion's open.

If you've always wanted to visit the on Grand River in Farmington, today's your lucky day. This gorgeous Victorian Italianate mansion, built in 1867, is open from 1-5 p.m. Friendly, cheerful docents will take you through and tell you about Victorian lifestyle and about Gov. Fred Warner, Farmington native son and Michigan's only three-term governor.

3. A number to call

4. Human chess pieces

A giant chess game, ala Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone, is happening at the Farmington Community Library Main Library this Saturday, and you can be part of it. If you'd like to play a giant chess piece, call 248-848-4315. Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch editor Joni Hubred-Golden will be on the board.
