5 Things You Should Know Today - April 12, 2012

Learn to prepare your pet for emergencies and about Farmington Public Safety's last year of activity tonight.

There's a lot of valuable information to be had in meetings held in Farmington and Farmington Hills tonight. Here's what else you should know today:

1. The weather

It'll be another frosty night, but the sun is expected to shine today. The National Weather Service predicts a high around 55 and low tonight around 35.

Join local veterinarian Christian Ast at the today at 6:30 p.m. for a free seminar on Preparing Your Pets for Emergencies. Gail Novak-Phelps from the MI State Animal Response Team will also talk about volunteers and responders who aid animals during emergencies and disasters. No registration is required.

This annual meeting will be held today at 7 p.m. in the Chambers. Residents are invited to attend and learn more about the activities over the previous year.

Enjoy the first of three "second Friday" events in downtown Farmington, Pick up a stamp card, purchase any three specials at local restaurants, then, redeem your card for an artsy prize. A strolling art troupe will provide entertainment, and at 7:45 p.m., a docent from the Detroit Institute of Arts will host a lantern tour starting at , with information about the seven Inside|Out art works on exhibit in the downtown area.
