5 Things You Should Know Today - April 16, 2012

Farmington officials may vote tonight on an agreement to contract with dispatch services with the City of Farmington Hills.

A big vote is expected at tonight's Farmington City Council meeting. Here's what else you should know today:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts another rainy, windy day with a high around 71 and wind gusts between 21 and 28 miles per hour. Expect a low tonight around 36, with a continuing chance of showers before 10 p.m.

2. Meet your state legislators

Both and will meet with constituents today. At 9:30 a.m., Barnett hosts a town hall on tax changes for adults age 50 and older at the . She will be joined by an expert panel from the Accounting Aid Society and the Municipal Employees' Retirement System. The Farmington African American Parent Network will host a Summer Resource Fair today 7 p.m. at . Parents, grandparents and family members of all  students will share resources and learn how to support students academically, socially and creatively, while sharpening their skills during the summer break. There's no charge to attend.

Officials will meet at city hall to discuss economic development, a state incentive program and the proposed 2012-2013 at a 6 p.m. study session today. At 7 p.m., their regular meeting agenda includes presentations about , Public Access University classes and the Memorial Day parade. Among other business items, they'll consider an interlocal agreement to contract for dispatch and inmate housing services with the City of Farmington Hills.
