5 Things You Should Know Today - April 26, 2012

The pot for the Farmington Rotary Club just keeps growing, and there's another drawing tonight.

Could you use 60 percent of more than $3,000? Your next chance to win happens at a local pub tonight, where a raffle that benefits two local charitable groups gets bigger every week: 

1. The weather

Rain is likely before 1 p.m. today, so keep your umbrella handy. The National Weather Service predicts a high around 58, a low around 31, and those gusty winds may return. Things should calm down tonight.

Word has it the pot for this progressive raffle is now well over $3,000, and there's another drawing at 9 p.m. today at in downtown Farmington. Tickets are available from any Farmington Rotary or Xemplar Club member, or at Cowley's tonight before the drawing. If the queen of hearts is drawn, the winner receives 60 percent of the pot, with 40 percent divided between the two organizations for their charitable work.

Parents are invited to bring their preschool and younger aged children to today at 9:30 a.m. for free open gym and socializing. The synagogue is located on Middlebelt, just south of Northwestern Hwy. For more information, call 248-851-5100.

4. Look ahead:

The Farmington Area Moms Club offers families a chance Friday to stock up on clothing, books, toys and children's items at huge savings. There will also be large items like strollers, high chairs, pack and plays and cribs. The sale starts at 5:30 p.m. at .

5. Look ahead:

The latest Farmington Hills Youth Theatre production opens Friday at 7 p.m. at the and offers performances through the weekend. The show combines elements of the classic movie with tunes from the Broadway version of the story, The Wiz. , and watch a video interview with cast members.
