5 Things You Should Know Today - April 3, 2012

We're moving closer to Easter, and many churches have listed their holy week services on our Events calendar, to help you plan ahead. Here's what else you should know today: 

1. The weather

While the temperature will climb into the 60s today, there's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 10 a.m. and through this evening. The National Weather Service predicts a low around 37, with skies clearing after 2 a.m.

2. Tax Assistance for seniors

Seniors can get help with simple E-file federal, state, homestead, and energy credit forms Tuesdays and Fridays through April 13 at the in Farmington Hills. Specially-trained members of the AARP provide the service, by appointment only. Call 248-473-1830 to make an appointment.

3. Early movies at the

It's spring break week for Farmington Public Schools, and the city's movie theater in downtown Farmington is offering shows starting at 11 a.m. all week. Now playing: Hugo (PG), The Artist (PG-13), The Descendants (R), and Big Miracle. Show times are available on-line at theFCT.com or by calling 248-474-1951.

4. Look ahead:

offers a special Preschool Skate Wednesday at 10 a.m., for children under 7. Parents are admitted free with a child's admission, and skate rental for parents is extra. Included for the child are skating, a mini-lesson, skate rental, a hot dog and drink - and of course, the Easter Bunny.

5. Look ahead:
