Watch 1,000+ marshmallows drop from the sky today at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.

Ever see more than 1,000 marshmallows? You'll get the chance at a family-friendly event this evening in Farmington Hills.

Here's what else you should know today:

1. The weather

The temperature creeps into the upper 70s today, and the National Weather Service predicts clearing skies after a cloudy morning. Lows are expected to range from 56 to 60.

Families can cook hot dogs and s’mores over the campfire, then watch over 1,000 marshmallows fall from the sky today at Heritage Park. The event, which begins at 5 p.m., also includes time to enjoy the splash pad, play on the bouncer, do crafts, check out the fire trucks, and more. The event is free to attend; there's a nominal cost for food.

School board members will hold two committee meetings – Building and Site/Safety at 5:45 p.m. and Curriculum at 6:15 p.m. – before taking up their regular agenda at 7:30 p.m. That agenda includes a review of changes to upper elementary report cards, Common Core curriculum, Michigan Focus Schools and a recommendation for appointing legal counsel. Time is also allowed for public comment.

4. Look ahead:

associate pastor Jim Faile leads this discussion on the topic of forgiveness at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The event is free to attend. For more information, call 248-474-6170.

5. Look ahead:

The Kerfuffles, who believe in making music fun for kids and parents, close out this year's Family Fun in free concert series in downtown Farmington. Their music-based storytelling and songs range from traditional favorites to funny and engaging originals. The fun begins at 7 p.m.
