5 Things You Should Know Today - Aug. 22, 2012

The last Family Fun in Riley Park concert for the summer happens tonight in downtown Farmington.

A popular concert series closes its season in downtown Farmington, signalling that summer is coming to an end. But you couldn't tell that by today's weather. 

Here's what else you should know:

The National Weather Service predicts today will be sunny, with a high near 81 and a low tonight around 60 – another beautiful summer day.

2. Library undergoes tech upgrade

Today, the Farmington Community Library catalog, telephone renewal, self-checkouts, remote access to on-line databases and eBook downloads will not be available, due to server upgrades. Bring your library card to the or check out materials.

4. Look ahead:

Learn more about how the new "Focus School" designation affects you and your child's education during this presentation on Thursday, 7 p.m., at the district's Ten Mile Building, 32789 W. 10 Mile Rd. Eleven Farmington Schools have this designation; read more in "".

5. Look ahead:

The  offers Learn To Skate classes, beginning Sept. 8, for ages 3 to adult. Classes teach basic and advanced techniques, and there are hockey skills classes as well.
