5 Things You Should Know Today - Feb. 15, 2012

A wintry weather mix is in the forecast tonight in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

An anticipated round of wintry weather should hold off until late tonight, so it won't interfere with any of today's activities:

1. The weather

Enjoy the sun when you see it today, because we're about to get hit with clouds and precipitation. The National Weather Service predicts a high today around 39, and a low tonight around 32. Expect rain before 1 a.m., then a rain/sleet mixture through Thursday morning. 

2. meets tomorrow

Officials will review the city's branding message during a study session held in conference room A at city hall tomorrow, 6 p.m. That's the only discussion item; the meeting also includes time for public comment on any topic. For the full agenda, visit the city's website

3. Free coffee at McDonald's

Wednesday means another free jolt of java at Farmington area McDonald's restaurants. Stop by locations at ; ; ; or  to pick up your free cup. 

4. Look ahead:

There's nothing but $1 and a lucky draw between you and a growing cash prize in this Farmington Rotary fundraiser. The draw is held Thursdays, 9 p.m., at in downtown Farmington. Tickets can be bought at the bar any time, from Farmington Rotary club members and at the pub on the night of the draw.

5. Look ahead:

 hosts Luce, who will accompany classic silent movies from the golden age of cinema and lead a sing-along with the audience. Luce began playing theatre pipe organ at the age of 10 at the Royal Oak Theatre near his home and is today an internationally acclaimed artist. No tickets are required for this Friday, 7 p.m. event., but donations will be accepted at the door.
