5 Things You Should Know Today - Feb. 2, 2012

Michigan's officials ground hog, Woody, today predicts the length of our winter.

It's Groundhog Day, and soon we'll know how much more winter to expect. In the meantime, here are a few things we thought you should know today: 

1. The weather

If you liked yesterday, you'll love today. The National Weather Service predicts another mostly sunny day, with a high near 40, and a low tonight of 28 under mostly cloudy skies. 

2. Woody predicts

Later today, we'll have a report from the Howell Nature Center, where Michigan's official ground hog prognosticator will tell us how many more weeks of winter to expect. (He's been right 9 out of 13 times.)

Students will model the lastest fashions for prom season today at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Fashions are provided by Parisian of Laurel Park Place in Livonia and Unique Lady in Oak Park, and men's tuxes will be provided by Men's Warehouse. Admission is $3 at the door. 

4. Look ahead:

Kids ages 5-12 can build a heart keepsake box today at  on Northwestern Hwy. in Farmington Hills. They'll be able to take home this free craft just in time for Valentine's day. Kids also receive a free workshop apron, certificate of achievement and commemorative pin.

5. Look ahead:
