A new Farmington Hills business is celebrating a ribbon cutting this week.
The Greater Farmington Area Chamber celebrates its first ribbon cutting of the year this week – and that's just the start of what you should know today:
1. The weather
The skies are expected to clear a little today, with a high of 27. The National Weather Service is predicting a 30 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m. tonight, with a low dropping to around 23 and then rising after 3 a.m.

Get dressed up in purple and be sure to wear a red hat to join the Red Hat society for lunch today at the in Farmington Hills. You can meet and learn more about the group during this 11:30 a.m. luncheon meeting. For more information, call 248-473-1800.

If you're concerned about getting voters to the polls on election day, stop by this meeting held in the community meeting room at 5:30 p.m. tonight. Their agenda include a discussion of increasing committee membership and a look at 2012 activities, and it's available online at fhgov.com.
4. Look ahead: Chamber ribbon cutting
The will celebrate a ribbon cutting on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. The business is located at 33120 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills, and there's no charge to attend. 5. Look ahead:
Tired of being cooped up because of the cold weather? Head over to the Friday at 6 p.m. and celebrate nature inside. Experience canoeing, archery, fishing, hands-on nature activities, an outdoor hike, and a picnic dinner with sandwiches and worm dirt pudding. Cost is $7 in advance and $10 at the door, children under age 3 are admitted free. To register, call 248-473-1800.
