Do you feel lucky? A raffle in downtown Farmington tonight could net someone 60 percent of an $8,000 pot.

Ask yourself today: Do you feel lucky? If so, you may want to head to downtown Farmington tonight for a raffle that helps two civic organizations help others. 

Here's what else you should know: 

1. The weather

Local Real Estate One associate broker Mary Bush is sponsoring today's 7 p.m. event at the on Grand River. The rock group Arrowhead – Livonia residents Shane Sigro, 16, Mike Paraski, 17, and David De La Garza, 18, and Dearborn resident Nick Sword, 17 – will perform. A crowd is expected, so bring a lawn chair.

Purchase a $1 ticket from any Rotary or Xemplar Club member, or at in downtown Farmington, where the drawing is held today (and every Thursday) at 9 p.m. If your ticket is drawn, you pick a number that corresponds to an envelope. If the queen of hearts is inside the envelope, you win 60 percent of the pot – which is more than $8,000 this week. If not, you walk away with a pub gift card. The service clubs use funds raised for their charitable endeavors.

4. Look ahead:

Sign up today by 6 p.m. for this Saturday screening event at Providence Hospital in Southfield. Participants must be between 40 and 64, currently uninsured, have been denied Medicaid, meet income guidelines and other requirements. Call 866-501-3627 to make an appointment.

Our community's big summer event starts a week from today, with a pre-glow that includes the 5 p.m. opening of Allegy Regalley behind Village Mall and That 80s Band, 7 p.m., in the Downtown Farmington Center lot on Grand River.
