5 Things You Should Know Today - July 16, 2013

Do you have time to share? The Downtown Farmington Founders Festival is looking for volunteers.

In just a few days, the Downtown Farmington Founders Festival gets underway with pre-glow activities. But this big annual event still needs to fill out its complement of volunteers. 

Details are below, along with a few other things you should know today:

Stop by the Village Commons shopping mall parking lot on Grand River in Farmington today around 6 p.m. for this weekly show, hosted by the Grand River Cruisers. There's a DJ, the group raises funds for local charities and admission is free, whether you're looking at cars or displaying them.

Officials take up a full agenda tonight at 7 p.m. that includes a request to hold a benefit for the Cipriano family, and introduction of three ordinances that deal with noise, fireworks and instructional entertainment. This  90 minute family-friendly film, shown 2 p.m. Thursday at the , shows how some 1,400 Michigan WWII vets received all-expense-paid trips to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. Enjoy the movie; stay for a question and answer session with the filmmakers and producers.
