There's only one major item on the Farmington Hills city council's agenda tonight: fireworks.

Farmington Hills officials will take up discussion of a proposed fireworks ordinance at the close of what promises to be a hot, steamy day. Here's what else you should know:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today and tonight. Expect a high around 97 and a low tonight around 72. 

2. Farmington Hills city council

City officials will meet in a 6 p.m. study session in the community room at to discuss questions and concerns surrounding , before taking up final approval of the measure during their 7:30 p.m. meeting.
