5 Things You Should Know Today - July 31, 2012

RRRASOC rolls out new recycling containers in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

The long-awaited, larger recycling bins are being delivered in Farmington and Farmington Hills this week. Below, you'll find a link to more information, and a few other things you should know today:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today, with a high around 89. Tonight's low is expected to land in the upper 60s. 

2. New recycling bins

The Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC) is delivering new, larger recycling bins in Farmington and Farmington Hills, starting this week. You can use your new container on the next collection day, and recycle your old bin by donating it to Farmington Schools, for use in their recycling program. Drop bins at the FPS Facilities Maintenance Building, 29350 10 Mile Rd. or the , 27245 Halsted Rd. Clean bins can be dropped off at your child's school.

3. ESL conversation

If English is your second language, you have an opportunity to practice conversation today at the in Farmington Hills. The group meets at 1:30 p.m. in Conference Room A; there's no charge and no need to register. Learn more at farmlib.org.

4. Look ahead:

Enjoy a free concert Wednesday with Great Lakes Consort, three classical musicians who perform music to soothe your soul in the setting of a “High Tea” chamber music format. The doors open Wednesday, 7 p.m., for this 8 p.m. concert at .

5. Look ahead: Learn about the Jaycees

Adults ages 21 to 40 are invited to learn what the Jaycees are all about on Friday, 7 p.m., at  on Grand River in Farmington. Ask questions and hear about some of the great opportunities the Jaycees offer, then enjoy an "after glow" upstairs with the rock band Free Beer. Learn more at fajc.org.
