5 Things You Should Know Today – July 6, 2011

Outdoor entertainment abounds today and, hopefully, the weather will cooperate.

Wednesday will offer several outdoor activities, but keep an eye out for rain clouds. Here's what you should know today:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service warns that a weak cold front moving through the area may bring showers and thunderstorms with it. The chance of rain is 50 percent, and it's most likely to fall this afternoon. Keep that umbrella handy.

As happens each Wednesday this summer, the Governor Warner Mansion is open from 1-5 p.m. today. Be sure to ask the docents what's going on there during Founders Festival, July 15-17.

free summer concert series continues at 7 tonight with world-renowned ragtime and boogie-woogie pianist Bob Milne. Milne has performed throughout the country and overseas, and his work has been recorded and documented for the Library of Congress.
