5 Things You Should Know Today - June 19, 2012

A Farmington Hills city commission focused on beautification meets tonight, and you're welcome to attend.

Today, you can learn more about a local service club or about how to keep Farmington Hills beautiful. Here's what else you should know: 

1. The weather

Make sure you're drinking water today. At a predicted high of 95 degrees, it's going to be a scorcher. The evening is expected to be around 72, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials will hear reports and will consider approving the district's 3-year technology plan and 2012-2013 budget items. There is always time allowed at the end of the meeting for public comment on any topic. A full agenda is attached to this post.

5. Look ahead: Political clubs meet

The and both meet on Wednesday. At , 6:30 p.m., Republicans will hear from Nancy Cassis, a write-in candidate for the 11th Congressional District seat, Bruce Lilley, 37th Michigan House District candidate and Sahera Housey, candidate for Oakland County Circuit Court. Democrats meet at Pipefitters' Hall, 30100 Northwestern Hwy., Farmington Hills, at 7 p.m. to talk about local, state, and national level topics, hear updates from office holders and support candidates running for office.
