5 Things You Should Know Today - Nov. 7, 2011

There's an event of interest for flower lovers going on today in Farmington Hills.

We're looking ahead to a great week, starting today with a presentation about a unique event of interest to gardeners today:

1. The weather

Bring the umbrella, there's a 20 percent chance of rain today. The National Weather Service predicts a high around 59 and a low around 50, with double the chance for precip tonight.

At noon today, the Farmington Garden Club hosts the president of Ikebana International, Detroit chapter, who will demonstrate the intricate and flowing form of flower arranging. Guests are welcome to join the group at the Spicer House in – and don't forget your camera.

3. council tonight

Among other things, officials will talk about a new state law that requires public employees to pay at least 20 percent of their health insurance costs. A full agenda is posted at ci.farmington.mi.us.

4. School's out tomorrow

5. Look ahead:

Dwyer, a Republican, represents District 14, which includes all of Farmington and a western portion of Farmington Hills. He'll be meeting with seniors at the at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow to answer questions and talk about what's going on in Pontiac.
