5 Things You Should Know Today - Oct. 27, 2011

Here's what we know about a Saturday Halloween celebration in downtown Farmington.

Much of our Five Things feature today is devoted to Saturday's Halloween celebration in downtown Farmington. This event draws hundreds of kids and parents every year, and over the past few days, we've received more information about it. But first:

1. The weather

We are sorry to report the National Weather Service predicts a 40 percent chance of rain today and a high of 48. Skies will clear up tonight, leaving us with a low of 30 chilly degrees.

In perfect harmony with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, today's walk in will be with Dr. Savitha Balaraman of the . Participants will have the chance to ask questions about breast health while strolling on park trails. Meet at the at 10 a.m.

3. Look ahead:

The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market vendors will be dressed up Saturday, and cider will be provided by RB Miller Farm, Coloma. 4. Look ahead: Free Halloween fun

5. Look ahead: Trick-or-treat!

Bring the kids to businesses displaying a balloon Saturday, starting at 2 p.m., to pick up treats from generous local merchants. Rumor has it some of them will be dressed up in costume. Trick-or-treat ends at 4 p.m.
