Farmington City Council meets tonight with a new member on board.

New Farmington City Council member Bill Galvin, appointed last Tuesday, will be sworn in at the beginning of tonight's special council meeting. Here's what else is going on today:

1. The weather

Should be a partly sunny and windy day, with a high of 66 and wind gusts up to 28 miles per hour. The National Weather Service predicts calmer winds tonight, with a low of 45.

2. Republican Club Hosts Matt Maroun

The Farmington Area Republicans (FAR) meet at 7 p.m., and they're bringing in Matt Maroun, son of Detroit International Bridge Company founder Matty Moroun and an executive with the firm, to talk about their international bridge project. FAR meets at , 12 Mile and Middlebelt. After the meeting, the Oakland County Republican Party will provide a training class for precinct delegates. Farmington's newest council member, Bill Galvin, will be sworn in at the beginning of tonight's meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in council chambers at . The agenda includes renewal of cooperative agreements with Oakland County for animal control and disposal services, and with the Road Commission for Oakland County for Farmington Road services; agreements with for maintenance at the Flanders Elementary site and a lease agreement for ; and for . There's also time for public comment at the end of the meeting.
