5 Things You Should Know Today - Oct. 4, 2011

The City of Farmington Hills hosts a flu shot clinic today.

We're starting a string of great weather forecasts today. Be sure to check our calendar for a full list of activities, it's a busy day in Farmington and Farmington Hills:

1. The weather

Get used to seeing this: Sunny skies today, with a high of 72. According to the National Weather Service, tonight's low will dip to 48 degrees, under mostly clear skies.

Get your flu shots at the today, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring a picture ID with your current address, and your Medicare/Medicaid card, if you have one. Otherwise, the shots are $11. For information, call 248-871-2500.

It's a fairly light day for prep sports:

Field Hockey varsity hosts Greenhills, 4:15 p.m., junior varsity hosts Greenhills, 5:45 p.m.
Volleyball freshmen host Marian, 4:30 p.m., junior varsity hosts Marian, 5:30 p.m., varsity hosts Marian, 6:30 p.m.


Boys Tennis hosts Lahser, 4 p.m.
Boys Soccer junior varsity hosts Groves, 5:30 p.m., varsity hosts Groves, 7 p.m.

The hosts this annual event to celebrate the start of fall in with the largest campfire in Farmington Hills, hayrides, fire truck tours and more. The event is free to attend, and food and other items are available for purchase. There's a small charge for the hayrides as well. For more information, call 248-473-1800.

5. Farmington School Board meeting

Officials will meet in a study session at the at 7:30 p.m. and take up an agenda that includes a presentation on the library millage renewal and a resolution supporting it; contract agreements with the Farmington Alternative High School Educators and Farmington Association of School Administrators; and reports from the board member development, superintendent's evaluation, community relations and finance committees.
