5 Things You Should Know Today - Sept. 15, 2011

The City of Farmington Hills Nature Discovery Center has programs today for all ages.

An art show opening, activities at the Nature Discovery Center and more are on the agenda for this cool September day:

1. The weather

While the sun will be out, today will be a little on the cool side. The National Weather Service expects a high of 60 today, and a low tonight around 40, under cloudy skies.

It's a busy day at the City of Farmington Hills Nature Center. This morning, everyone is invited to lace up for "," a brisk walk with a naturalist that starts at 10 a.m. Cost is $2, and strollers are welcome. This afternoon at 4:30 p.m., kids ages 8-12 years can explore miniature worlds with "". They'll dip their nets into the pond, roll logs over, and search the grass for tiny creatures. Cost is $5 for residents, $7 for non-residents. RSVP for this one, by calling 248-477-1135.

Members of Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills and The Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit will be at on 10 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills today, harvesting produce that will be donated to Yad Ezra and  and the Cathedral Church of St. Paul to distribute to the community. The Womencenter at Oakland Community College’s Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills opens its 21st annual national women’s art exhibition tonight at 7 p.m. Local residents are featured among the 30 artists with 34 pieces in a variety of media.
