Ever thought about being an Adopt-A-Highway volunteer?

We're headed into the end of September this week, with fall activities just starting to heat up:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service is predicting rain all day today, with a 40 percent chance of showers extending into the evening and wind gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. The predicted high is 70 degrees; tonight's low, 53.

2. Adopt-A-Highway volunteers

This past weekend marked the start of a final "clean sweep" of state highways by Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, who will be working through Sunday, Oct. 2 to pickup trash along Michigan roadways. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is always looking for groups of three or more to take over sections of road. For more information, visit michigan.gov/adoptahighway.
