5 Things You Should Know Today - Sept. 6, 2011
School starts today for more than 10,000 kids in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
It's a chilly start for thousands of students who will be starting their school year this morning. We've got a reminder about safety and a few more things you should know today:
1. The weather
The sun will shine today, but we're definitely getting closer to autumn. Today's high is just 67 degrees, with winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour, and tonight's low should be around 54, according to the National Weather Service.
2. School safety
Keep an eye out for walkers today and remember to use extra care around school buses. and middle schools get underway at 7:25 a.m.; elementary school start-times range from 8:38 a.m. to 9:07 a.m. , and high schools start at 7:45 a.m.

5. Farmington City Council special meeting
Farmington city officials have called a special meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. They'll interview three candidates for planning commission and one for the beautification commission.
