5 Things You Should Know Today—Aug. 3, 2011

Family-fun events are on tap today in Farmington.

The day may start out a little gloomy, but we're expecting the skies to clear in time for a big event in Riley Park tonight:

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts showers early this morning, but the clouds should disappear as we move into the afternoon and evening. Look for a daytime high of 82 and nice, cool sleeping weather in the upper 60s tonight.

The annual Family Fun Fest starts Thursday in at 5 p.m., and there's still time to get your coupon for $4 off unlimited ride bands. They're being offered at local merchants and online at wadeshows.com website.

4. Farmington Zoning Board of Appeals

There's just one appeal on tonight's Farmington ZBA agenda: A resident on Farmington Road is asking for a variance to store a 12-foot-high enclosed cargo trailer on the north side of the house.
