5 Things You Should Know Today—July 12, 2011

We've got another list of things to help you make the most of today—including several items of interest for the older crowd:

1. The weather

You may see a little fog today before 8 a.m., but it will burn off and leave us with a warm one. Expect a high in the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Oakland County Commissioner Bill Dwyer, who represents Farmington and the west portion of Farmington Hills, makes a visit to the Costick Center today at 11:30 a.m. to talk with senior citizens about issues important to them. The meeting is open to the public.

At 2 p.m. today, you can find out more about services that make it easier for seniors to stay in their homes longer. LifeChoices representatives will be at to talk about their program.

If you love a big-band sound, head over to tonight to hear the Tommy James Orchestra. The 7 p.m. event is part of the Summer Concert Series held in the Linda S. Mlynarek Community Garden. For information, visit botsfordcommons.org.

As everyone waits for the release of the final Harry Potter movie on Friday, the sixth of J.K. Rowling's popular books will be the topic of discussion at 7 p.m. tonight at the in Farmington Hills.
