Job seekers, families and seniors in Farmington and Farmington Hills have big events today.

The weather may be taking a turn for the worse (although we need the rain), but we've got plenty of local events to cheer you up today.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service is talking about "copious amounts" of moisture in a hot, humid air mass settling over southeast Michigan. Expect thunderstorms through the evening, with the possibility of localized flooding.

Jobfairgiant.com will be at the in Farmington Hills today from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., offering job seekers help with their search. Bring in your resume and dress for success, because employers will be on site to talk with you. Employers take a break from 12 p.m.-1 p.m.; the event will be shut down during that time. There is no charge to attend.

will help your child develop the knack for crafting with another free workshop today at 11 a.m. Children ages 3 and older will create a make-and-take friendship bracelet or animal pin. The event lasts as long as the supplies do.

Angel Brock headlines at tonight, starting at 7 p.m. The downtown Farmington coffee shop is hosting acoustic performers on Thursday and Saturday nights; a full calendar can be found online. There's no cover charge.

A first tonight for Stars in the Park at (or the , if it rains), Metro Jazz Voices brings a sophisticated four-part harmony to jazz standards and newer tunes. The concert starts at 7 p.m.; let's all hope for good weather, although the Costick Center is always comfortably cool.
