Beechview Elementary in Farmington Hills Closed Due to Power Outage

According to the DTE Energy website, 148 customers in the school's neighborhood are without power.

Students at Beechview Elementary are getting an extra day of winter vacation, as the school was closed Friday morning.

Farmington Public Schools spokesperson Diane Bauman said the building has only partial power and no heat.

DTE Energy's outage map shows 148 customers in that area have been without power since 6:38 a.m. The outage affects an area north of 11 Mile, west of Greythorne Trail and east of La Muera.

Repair of the area outage is expected between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday.

This is Beechview's second power outage this year; the school was closed Oct. 30 after high winds knocked out power for thousands of residents in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
