Big, Bright Light Show, Nutcracker Ballet and More Holiday Fun Abounds in Oakland County

Looking for some cheer in the area this weekend? We've got the scoop on when and where the festivities will take place!

Have you been swept up in the holiday spirit? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to indulge it this weekend in Oakland County, including two in Farmington Hills. 

Berkley

Holiday concert: The annual performance with the Madison Chorale, which is celebrating its 40th year and is under the direction of Maureen Kennedy, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Our Lady of La Salette Church. Tickets cost $15; call the music office at 248-541-3762 for more information.

Birmingham

Magic of Birmingham: Shopping events take place Saturday, Dec. 15, at most downtown shops.

Clawson

Nutcracker Ballet: More than 30 dancers from the Rosemarie Floyd School of Dance/TMB Ballet Company in Royal Oak will bring the holiday story to life inside the Clawson High School auditorium. Shows are at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $10 for children. Visit www.rosemariefloyd.com for more information.

Caroling: Join in the fun from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, during the third annual "Caroling in Clawson" event starting at the Hunter Community Center.Participants will be given a song book filled with classics such as "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Silent Night" and more. Ferndale

Beermas!: The New Way Bar's 10th annual Christmas party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. will feature performances by three bands: Free Beer, The Candy Band and Domino Effect. Daniella Burkhardt of Huntington Woods plays in The Candy Band. Admission costs $5. Visit www.freebeernet.com for more information.

Farmington-Farmington Hills

Farmington Community Chorus Holiday Concert: Songs of the season presented at 8 p.m. Saturday at Mercy High School. Tickets are $15 at the door. 

Holiday Benefit Skating Exhibition: The Farmington Hills Figure Skating Club's annual show benefits Sweet Dreamzzz. Admission is a donation to the charity of cash or an item from the nonprofit's wish list. 

Breakfast with Santa: The St. Fabian Knights of Columbus on Sunday will host a free breakfast with Santa at St. Fabian Catholic Church in Farmington Hills. Donations will be collected for needy students of Detroit Cristo Rey High School. 

Troy

Santa at The Somerset Collection: The Jolly Old Elf will be there daily through Christmas Eve. Click here for the full schedule.

Rochester

Big, Bright Light Show: It's the seventh year for the light show, which features 1.5 million multicolored LED lights covering the downtown buildings.
