Bright House Cable Bills Going Up March 1

Customers in Farmington, Farmington Hills and Novi will see a $2 hike in basic cable and premium channel rates.

Bright House Networks cable rates are going up March 1, Farmington Hills Mayor Barry Brickner said during Monday night's city council meeting.

The rate change affects Farmington Hills, Farmington and Novi. The cities together formed the Southwestern Oakland Cable Commission (SWOCC) in 1982 to negotiate franchise agreements with the cable provider.

Customers can expect to see a $2 increase in basic cable, along with increases in expanded cable and premium channel rates. The Bright House Movie Pass will increase from $7 to $8; digital box and DVR service will remain the same, Brickner said.

"They are adding some things to our package, but they are raising rates to go with it," he added.

He said the city has no control over cable rates; residents who have questions or concerns should contact Bright House Networks.
