Community Invited to Commemorate 9/11 on Sunday

The annual Patriot Day event will be held in downtown Farmington.

WDIV Channel 4 reporter Roger Weber will emcee a 9/11 Patriot Day event held on Sunday, Sept. 11, 4 p.m., at the in downtown Farmington. 

of Farmington, along with the cities of Farmington Hills and Farmington, present the annual event to honor those who currently serve our country or have served in the past.

In the U.S., Patriot Day occurs on Sept. 11 of each year, in memory of the nearly 3,000 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.  Event organizer Jarrett Lott from American Legion Post #346 encourages community members to attend and show their support.

During the service, the American Legion will recognize local citizens who have served our country. Special recognition will be given to the Farmington Hills firefighters who trekked 755 miles from the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit to Ground Zero in New York City to honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 World Trade Center Attacks.
