Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Movie Event Honors Peter Nielsen

The Farmington Hills-based nonprofit celebrates its 35th "Gala Evening at the Movies" at Emagine Theater in Royal Oak.

The Michigan Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), based in Farmington Hills, hosts its 35th Annual “Gala Evening at the Movies” Nov. 26 at Emagine Theater in Royal Oak. 

The 2012 honoree, Peter Nielsen, will be recognized for his years of dedication to spreading awareness and advocacy for CCFA. 

The event begins at 6 p.m., with a reception, and the program will emceed by Fox 2 Detroit’s Roop Raj. New this year, guests will have a chance to win a 0.75ct. G Color SI-2 diamond, valued at more than $3,500, by purchasing a glass of champagne for $50 or two glasses for $75. Also, joining CCFA from the Art of Rock and Roll is local artist Dave Santia, who will be creating on stage three original masterpieces that will be featured in a Live Auction.

Following the honoree presentation, guests may attend one of these movies in exclusively reserved theatres: 

Sky Fall – starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench & Ralph Fiennes

Silver Linings Playbook – starring Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro & Jennifer Lawrence

Lincoln - starring Daniel Day Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones & Sally Field 

More than 80 cents of every dollar raised at this event will go directly to supporting CCFA’s mission, which is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by those diseases.

Individual tickets are $100 or two for $150 and include the dinner, honoree presentation, and movie premiere.  Tickets can be purchased by contacting Becky Howland, Development Director for CCFA at 248-737-0900, ext. 4 or at rhowland@ccfa.org. Tickets will be available the night of the event, only on a first-come, first-served basis.
