Enjoy Activities, Food at the Farmington Farmers Market

Today's market includes a Hoopnotica demo, music and Chef Zack from John Cowley & Sons.

The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market opens at 9 a.m. today at the , with activities and music in addition to a wide selection of Michigan vendors.

The Fit Farmington one-mile walk takes off from the information booth at 10 a.m., followed by a special demonstration of Hoopnotica, a hula hooping workout, at 10:30 a.m. Read more about this activity, complete with video, in "".

Mark Reitenga performs original compositions and covers from America to Van Morrison, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. And Cookin’ at the Market this week features Chef Zach Peterlin of of Farmington.

At the information booth, you can pick up tickets to the Harvest Moon Celebration, held Sept. 22-24. Tickets, which are good for either the beer and wine tasting Thursday or Friday night's dance, are $5. They'll be $8 at the door.

You can also pick up an entry form for the 7th Annual Scarecrow Building Contest, with the theme “America’s Pop Culture Past.” Entry forms can also be downloaded at DowntownFarmington.org. Completed forms can be dropped off or mailed to the office.
