Families Chill Out At Farmington YMCA Winter Blast

The first-ever Winter Blast on Saturday afternoon offered fun, winter-themed activities for kids.

After all the excitement and activities that come with the holidays, finding something to make your children smile on a grey January weekend can be a challenge. The offered a cool solution on Saturday afternoon with their first-ever Winter Blast event.

Kids played winter-themed games such as floor and table hockey and arctic water games (in the heated pool), created chilly snowmen at the crafts table and enjoyed snow cone treats. Outside, there was a fire for roasting marshmallows and plenty of hot chocolate for all. Every activity and treat was free.

If you missed this event, the YMCA offers another opportunity for free family fun on Jan. 21, with a "Dive In Movie." The family-friendly film Finding Nemo will be screened in the pool area, and attendees can watch the movie from the water. Bring your own comfortable floats to use in the pool. The movie begins at 7 p.m., with swim testing at 6:30 p.m. for kids under 48 inches tall.
