Farmington Hills Senior Division Hosts Law, Wellness Events

Free legal information and health screenings are available to adults 50 and better at events this month.

Adults 50 and older are invited to attend two September events that feature free information on legal issues and free health screenings. 

On Sept. 13, the Senior Division hosts a Senior Law Day, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the 28600 W. 11 Mile. Free legal seminar topics will include Reverse Mortgages, Wills & Trusts, Veterans Benefits, Medicaid, and Credit Card and Financial Scams. The event includes a free lunch, and registration is required; call 248-473-1830.

Senior Law Day is sponsored by the Oakland County Bar Association and the Oakland County Bar Foundation.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18, a Total Wellness Fair at the Costick Center will feature health screenings, assessments, and education, plus door prizes and a free lunch to all participants who are at least 60 years of age. Look for Tai Chi and Healthy Cooking demonstrations, as well as informative exhibits from various health vendors providing valuable resources.

Open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Total Wellness Fair is sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B, HAP, Comfort Keepers, Angel Gardens, Botsford Commons, The Manor of Farmington Hills, and St. Mary Mercy of Livonia. For more information, call the Senior Division at 248-473-1830.
