Farmington Library Invites Families to Farmington Reads Kick Off

Copies of 'Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow?' will be distributed to area preschools and child care facilities.

In support of state and federal emphasis on science education, the Farmington Community Library calls on preschools, child care facilities, and families to introduce scientific thinking and the joy of reading by sharing the picture book, Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow? by Susan A. Shea, with every preschool-aged child in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

As part of the 2013 Farmington Reads! program, copies of the book will be delivered to preschools and child care facilities in January, a gift from the Farmington Friends of the Library. Children’s librarians will visit area Head Start classrooms, preschools, and daycare facilities to read the book and share songs and rhymes.

Families are also invited to attend Farmington Reads! kick-off parties, featuring a reading of the book, songs, rhymes, and activities, at the Main Libraryon Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. or the Farmington Branch on Jan. 29, 11 a.m. Additional copies of the book are available for check-out at both branches.

With its bold colors, fun flaps, and thought-provoking concept, Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow? embodies all the qualities needed to convey to kids the joy of reading. Preschoolers have a natural curiosity about the world around them, so these years are the perfect time to inspire a lifelong love of reading and science.
