Farmington Officials Approve 'Cash & Cari' Event

The HGTV cable show will tape an episode in the community later this month.

Farmington officials on Monday approved a request for the HGTV cable television show Cash & Cari to film Mar. 13-17 at 23550 Wesley St.

City manager Vince Pastue said he brought the request to city council members because it will require some use of city resources, including the . He said the show will be on-site starting Mar. 13, but most of the activity will occur Mar. 16-17, the dates for an estate sale on the property. 

In a 2011 story about the show's debut, that show host and Plymouth resident Cari Cucksey, who owns , an antique store in downtown Northville, travels "to local estate sales, flea markets, dusty attics and cluttered garages to find hidden or overlooked antique furniture, decorative accessories, collectibles and memorabilia."

Pastue said Public Safety Director Bob Schulz will issue a temporary traffic control order that prohibits on-street parking on Arundel on Friday, Mar. 16, to ensure there's no problem with traffic around . 

"Typically, there's a lot of activity and people early in the morning," Pastue said, adding the show brings in staff to help with traffic control.

Officials felt the show would be a boon for the community, putting Farmington in the national spotlight. Council member Kristin Kuiken noted when another HGTV show, , featured a Farmington resident, the show included a brief profile of the community. 

Cash & Cari airs Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on HGTV.
